Jul 2, 2019 · The new look of the site also introduces an updated look for Nelson, the College's Saint Bernard mascot, replacing the existing mark that has been used during recent years. Nelson – named after former Aquinas College President Paul T. Nelson – has represented Aquinas athletics since 1997.
Also in 1997, the college officially named its mascot, a St. Bernard dog, "Nelson" in honor of President Paul Nelson, who retired that year. In 1998 the college was reorganized into three schools, each led by a dean and subdivided into departments: the School of Education, the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the School of Management.

Aug 16, 2019 · The letter forms were inspired by the College's existing brand typeface and create a new logotype with a bolder, more energetic and distinct presence that links the Athletic AQ logo, the wordmark and the Nelson logo into a cohesive identity. Color is also an important unifying factor.
