  5. Oct 18, 1999 · The University of Memphis wins the prestigious 1957 Sugar Bowl Tournament on Dec. 30 with a 47-46 upset win over sixth-ranked Maryland in three overtimes. The Tigers upended Loyola-New Orleans the night before, 65-63. One of the finest players in Tiger history was Win Wilfong, who played from 1955-57.
