Maybe it's from a very minute entertainment-industry standpoint, but it's very interesting that Hanna-Barbera would allow Screen Gems to directly own the trademarks to those characters (Screen Gems also handled all of the merchandising for those early H-B characters and kept most of the profits) rather than H-B trademarking them themselves and working out a profit-sharing deal with Screen Gems.
