The fans came for the story, everyone else came for the game. Honestly reflecting back to my Kingdom Hearts 3, the experience was fun, game play wise, but okay in the story department. Yes it's a Disney game, but the Kingdom Hearts franchise took Kingdom Hearts so seriously, we as fans feel cheated because the ending was simple and sweet.
Kingdom Hearts 3 - Multiplayer [MOD WIP] I always wished this was a thing with KH games. Like let me plug in a 2nd PS2 controller & take control of Donald or something. Ah the Sonic the Hedgehog multiplayer. Or Tales of, at least until the most recent one. The biggest missed opportunity when they released 2.5 was not having an online mirage arena.

In addition, there was a few leaks over the years indicating that KH3 Multiplayer was being worked on, plus it's not like Kingdom Hearts hasn't explored multiplayer functionality before.
