Why don't TV shows have theme songs anymore? For a long time, TV shows had cool theme songs that introduced the show in every episode, and every time you heard the song you knew exactly what show it was from. On a radio show it's way more important to have a really distinctive sound to let the listener know the show's starting. A lot of the first, successful TV shows were radio shows first, like soap operas and situation comedies; they kept the theme music when they ported over.
