Gair Park is a garden of remembrance and cenotaph commemorating the war dead of the Dutton Park district. Memorials that pay tribute to war dead are an important element of Queensland towns and cities and demonstrate the way in which involvement in war has helped to shape the pattern of Queensland's history.

The new park was named Gair Park in honour of parliamentarian Vincent (Vince) Clair Gair, Labor member for South Brisbane. Born in Rockhampton in 1901, Gair moved to Dutton Park with his parents in 1916.
