  1. Dec 16, 2010 · Abstract. Entamoeba histolytica is a human pathogen that causes amoebic dysentery and leads to significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. Understanding the genome and evolution of the parasite will help explain how, when and why it causes disease. Here we review current knowledge about the evolutionary genomics of Entamoeba: how differences ...

  2. Nov 1, 2019 · Using DNA topoisomerase II as a molecular marker to reconstruct a molecular phylogenetic tree that facilitated analysis of the evolutionary position of the four amitochondriate species (Giardia lamblia, Trichomonas vaginalis, E. histolytica, and Encephalitozoon cuniculi), it was revealed that these amitochondriate protozoa evolved after and not ...

  5. Nov 12, 2020 · histolytica. Entamoeba histolytica is an extracellular enteric eukaryotic parasite. Globally, an average of 50 million cases and 55,000 to 100,000 deaths are due to E. histolytica infection each year, primarily impacting the developing world [ 1, 2 ]. The world is widely unprepared for an outbreak of E. histolytica due to the lack of a vaccine ...

  6. Feb 13, 2017 · A pathogenic E. dispar genotype was isolated from an amebic liver abscess. E. histolytica is now easily identified in laboratories, saving time and effort in diagnosis and management of infection. Phylogenetic analysis of E. histolytica and E. dispar and studying the detected genotypes can explain the big variation in pathogenicity in humans.

  7. Nov 18, 2014 · 3 Genome Sequencing and Annotation of Entamoeba histolytica. The most important Entamoeba species from the perspective of human health, E. histolytica, had its draft genome sequence published and annotated in 2005 [ 15, 30 ]. The sequenced strain, HM-1:IMSS, is the most widely studied laboratory culture-adapted strain.

  8. Oct 31, 2014 · Hence, an important question regarding the population structure of Entamoeba is whether the parasite populations are predominantly clonal or sexual. Genes of E. histolytica, contain intra-species single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). Genes of E. histolytica and their homologs present in AmoebaDB database.
