Jun 26, 2017 · Spending a night or two on the island-blessed country is not enough when you want to savour all the Philippines has to offer. Here are the top reasons why visiting should be on your bucket list.
- The People. The hospitality of Filipinos is incomparable to the rest of the world. In my experience, from all the Asians I have met, Filipinos are the most kind and friendly people, extremely welcoming and curious, but also respectful.
- Paradise Beaches and Islands. Philippines is one of the largest island groups in the world with 7,107 islands. Philippines islands and beaches are ... Heaven.
- Shopping. Get lost in one of the biggest shopping malls in the world. When I noticed all the giant shopping malls in Manila, I had a feeling that Filipinos must be crazy about shopping.
- Nature and Wildlife. Philippines has one of the most diverse wildlife in the world. Philippines is home of a diverse range of birds, plants, animals and sea creatures.
- You can start having fun before getting there. Filipinos have a tremendous sense of humour and that is clear even on the planes getting there. Cebu Pacific’s games and quizzes while you’re mid-air were one of my most interesting flights ever.
- You can swim with turtles. Apo Island is a tiny island in the Negros province. It’s known as one of the best marine sanctuary in the world and the underwater life is incredible.
- They are all about sustainable travel. For my surprise, it was easy to find sustainable businesses, from eco-diving companies and tours to locally run home stays and restaurants.
- It’s a diving mecca. With 2,800+ different species of fish, 5,000+ species of clams and my other claims of a rich underwater world, the Philippines are one of the best countries for scuba diving in the entire world.
- The people. I traveled everywhere in South East Asia. People in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia are really nice and extremely friendly. But the people in the Philippines are just simply amazing.
- A South American feeling in Asia. Forget about temples and Buddhism! Forget about tuk-tuks! The Philippines is fully packed with churches, people are Roman Catholic and the local form of transport is a Jeepney.
- The Tarsier. If you visit the Philippines you can encounter one of the smallest primates in the world. This little animal is called a Tarsier and it is one of the cutest animals I’ve ever seen in my life.
- Malapascua Island. South East Asia has a lot of beautiful islands. The most amazing one, in my opinion, is Malapascua Island. The island has some of the best beaches and diving spots in the Philippines.
