Oct 29, 2023 · The movie was shot in black and white by Ellis W. Carter. The Lone Pine vistas look absolutely majestic. Kino Lorber’s Blu-ray print looks and sounds very good. The lone extras for this film are a newly mastered trailer as well as trailers for three additional Murphy films available from Kino Lorber.
Being shot in black and white does not hurt this film. Actually it makes it more striking, not the usual post card color we're used to seeing in films shot in these familiar locations. It has a number of actors who while familiar also do rather good work.

The version I watched was in black and white, which is weird because all of the earlier Murphy westerns I saw were in color. Even another film starring Murphy by the same director released the next year was in color.
