Jun 29, 2008 · The trunk lid on my 2001 325cic is showing open when closed and closed when open. As a result, the convertible top will not operate since the lid is showing open. Any ideas as to why this is showing in reverse and what I might troubleshoot? Thanks.
Apr 3, 2009 · Trunk shut but trunk open indicator stays on e46 (2001 325ci) The trunk open indicator is on even though the trunk is shut. I can only open the trunk with the key in the trunk key hole. The trunk release by the drivers foot and on the key remote does not work. Also the key hole the key is in a horizontal position and will only turn to the right.

Step2: On your left side, inside the trunk, just behind the the left tail-light. you will notice a metal plate with steel cables. Step3: Put your fingers behind the steel plate and you will feel the disengaged motor.
Mar 11, 2023 · e46 trunk stuck closed. I recently found out that the wiring going to the trunk was all messed up and not long after, I closed the trunk and it remained closed. It's worth mentioning that the latch doesn't work (or maybe it got changed by the previous owner), the button on the key doesn't do anything now either.
Jun 21, 2008 · The lock solenoid on the cover was broken. I was able to unlock it with a coat hanger. Since I trust myself not to open the top cover while the trunk is open, I simply disconnected the rod from the solenoid so it does not interfere with the latch.
