Attention: Beginning Monday, April 27, you can submit proof of your income for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) online through a new app. PUA is a federal benefit available to workers who are unable to work as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and do not qualify for unemployment insurance benefits in any state.

The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) expanded eligibility for unemployment insurance temporarily, extending it to any individual who is out of work due to the pandemic, including formerly self-employed, contract, and gig workers.
The Pandemic Assistance Period (PAP) for paying of PUA benefits begins with weeks of unemployment beginning on or after January 27, 2020 and ends with weeks ending on December 31, 2020. Individuals may not receive PUA benefits for more than a total of 39 weeks, minus any weeks paid on regular unemployment compensation or extended benefits.

The Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program expanded eligibility for UI benefits to self-employed workers, independent contractors, and part-time workers. The Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation program extended benefits by 13 weeks for those persons who exhaust their regular UI benefits.
