3/10. Sowing bad seeds. Prismark10 11 April 2017. Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange play best friends but there is a 15 year age gap between the actresses and it shows. In Wild Oats MacLaine has been recently widowed and is wrongly sent a life insurance cheque for $5 million instead of $50 thousand.
The best that can be said is that Wild Oats recalls the much funnier Dirty Rotten Scoundrels of 1988 (featuring Michael Caine and Steve Martin ), with an aging widow thrown in. Sadly, although Lange is a gifted dramatic performer, comedy looks like an ill-fitting outfit -- you can see the effort squeezing into it requires.
