The plan includes national goals of empowering Jamaicans through education and social protection, promoting effective governance and security, and attaining a prosperous economy while ensuring a healthy natural environment.
The country’s Human Development Index (HDI) score has consistently trended toward target. Jamaica remained in the high human development category with a ranking of 101 out of 189 countries and territories, and a Human Development Index (HDI) value of 0.734 in 2019 – a value of 0.734 was also recorded for 2017 and 2018.
