There's an event in each book - volume 1 is Sinestro Corps War, volume 2 is Blackest Night, and volume 3 is Wrath of the First Lantern. Sinestro Corps War and Blackest Night are both collected in their entirety, however Wrath of the First Lantern is missing a lot of important tie-ins.
There is a volume called simply "Blackest Night" that contains blackest night 0-8. That would be the absolute bare minimum for this particular storyline. I would recommend picking up Blackest Night : green lantern as it is an excellent supplement to the core story however.

While Green Lantern Hal Jordan spent most of the story on Earth, his fellow Green Lantern John Stewart flew through space during the events of Blackest Night, pursued by hordes of undead Black Lanterns. Time and again, John proved his mettle. At one point, he made a ring construct of his entire Marine unit.
Peak fiction. The Blackest Night Saga is one of the best things I have ever read, the prior stories leading up to Blackest Night and Blackest Night itself are incredible. Green Lantern Corps was also fantastic during that time. Brightest Day directly after is great but I lump it in with the whole Blackest Night/Brightest Day Saga.
