Large Owners of Retail Lumber Yards. The late William Cameron began the lumber business in a retail way in Missouri in 1862 and came to Waco, Tex., for his headquarters in 1875, operating in the latter city until his death. The estate now has a large number of yards scattered over the country.

Nov 16, 2022 · By 1890 the William Cameron Company had more than sixty retail lumberyards. Cameron entered the sawmill and timber business in 1885 with organization of the Texas Lumber Company to secure virgin timberlands in East Texas and Louisiana. Between 1885 and 1897 he expanded also into the grain and flour mill business.
6. In 1914 World War 1 has started and William Cameron is now President of Torris Wold & Co. and the first patent of William Cameron is filed. William purchased his first automobile. 7. By 1919 William has filed 16 patents and he takes over Torris Wold & Co. and incorporates it as Cameron Can Machinery Machinery Co.
