Go to www.live.com and sign into the account with issues. Click the gear in the upper right corner and select 'More mail settings' from the drop down menu. Under Managing Your Account click 'Account Details'. Click 'Security Info' from the left menu bar. Turn off 2 step verification. This fixed my issue.

Windows live mail problems When I start WLM I get the inbox, then the sign-in screen, then the WLM "Checking for new mail on Hotmail", then a log-in screen for Hotmail. Entering the password in the Hotmail log-in & checking ok will remove the screen but then it returns.
Feb 19, 2012 · Just started happening the last week. Today is Windows Live Mail, Windows 7 pro. Click on message, now it opens up. Used to highlight and read in the split screen. To send reply, click on reply, it will open 1, 2, or 3 reply windows to send reply re: same message.
