An excellent performer, award-winner Coreopsis verticillata 'Zagreb' (Threadleaf Coreopsis) is a compact perennial forming a gorgeous mound of finely divided leaves. Blooming continuously from early to late summer, it gets covered with a profusion of bright golden-yellow blossoms.
Jan 22, 2024 · Zagreb Coreopsis is a compact, clump forming plant with airy, thread-like bright green foliage. Daisy-like golden-yellow flowers are borne above the foliage throughout the summer. This selection is longer-lived than ‘Moonbeam’, making it a fine replacement that has a place in any garden.
Coreopsis verticillata, commonly called threadleaf coreopsis or whorled coreopsis, is a rhizomatous perennial which typically grows in dense, bushy clumps to 1-3' tall. Features yellow, daisy-like flowers (1-2" diameter) with yellow untoothed rays and yellow center disks.
Zagreb, however, returns every year and thrives on neglect. It blooms and blooms, has a nice mounded shape, and the fine feathery foliage is very attractive. Seems to be tolerant of full hot sun or partial shade. It does increase in size over time, but I only divide mine about every 3rd year or 4th year.
Threadleaf Coreopsis is a bushy, yet elegant, much-branched herbaceous perennial with three-parted threadlike leaves arranged in opposite pairs or in whorls of three. Mature plants of the ‘Zagreb’ cultivar grow to 1’ by 2’.
