Opened in 1929, it is the third oldest zoo in Switzerland (after Basel and Arth-Goldau) and it accumulated a collection of 2,200 specimens of 300 species by its seventy-fifth year.

Zoo Zurich is a cultural and educational Zurich institution and acts as an ambassador between human kind, animals and nature. On 27 hectares, zoo visitors can experience exotic animal species in habitats designed close to nature with all their senses.
Der Zoo Zürich ist der zoologische Garten von Zürich. Er wurde 1929 eröffnet und liegt oberhalb der Stadt auf dem Zürichberg im Quartier Fluntern. Nach dem Zoo Basel sowie dem Natur- und Tierpark Goldau handelt es sich dabei um den drittältesten zoologischen Garten der Schweiz.
