Like Body and Soul, the film starred John Garfield. The film was adapted by Abraham Polonsky and Ira Wolfert from Wolfert's novel Tucker's People.

Olive Films’ 2012 Force of Evil Blu-ray was a winner, but this disc betters it in all respects. David Raksin’s music comes across more clearly as well.
