Siworae (aka Il Mare) was written by South Korean screenwriters Kim Eun-jeong and Yoeh Ji-na. The movie was remade in English as The Lake House (2006) (2006). What does the title mean? Il Mare is Italian for 'the sea'. It is the name that Sung-hyun gives to the seaside house when he lived there.
Story: Kim Eun-ju (Jeon Ji-hyun) lives in a big house beside the sea, which bears the uncommon name "Il Mare". When Kim moves out she leaves a message in the mailbox for her successor, that she really would appreciate it if he could forward letters he receives addressed at her, to her new address.
Siworae. (Il Mare) (2000) In 2000, Sung-hyun (Jung-Jae Lee), still hung up on her ex-boyfriend and feeling rejected by Eun-ju’s (Ji-hyun Jun) failure to make their scheduled meeting, asks Eun-ju to stop her from letting her not-yet-ex-boyfriend go to the United States without her in 1998.
