    Paul Schneider (4 August 1923 – 13 October 2008; age 85) was an American screenwriter who wrote the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episodes "Balance of Terror" and "The Squire of Gothos". He also wrote the Star Trek: The Animated Series first season episode "The Terratin Incident".

    Schneider was born in Passaic, New Jersey. Some of his earliest writing was for a number of Mr. Magoo cartoons in the early 1950s. He also wrote the story for the 1959 animated Mr. Magoo film 1001 Arabian Nights.

    When writing for television, Schneider often collaborated with his wife, Margaret Schneider. Together, they wrote multiple episodes of the medical dramas Dr. Kildare and Marcus Welby, M.D. They also wrote an episode of Gene Roddenberry's The Lieutenant, which starred Gary Lockwood.

    Other television series for which Paul and Margaret Schneider wrote include Ben Casey, Mr. Novak, and an episode of Ironside which featured Robert DoQui. In the 1980s, they wrote for the family sitcom Eight Is Enough and for the science fiction series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

    Paul Schneider died on 13 October 2008. He was 85 years old. His wife, Margaret, predeceased him.
