The Sylvia Young Theatre School was founded in 1972 with part-time classes in East London. It was established as a full-time school in 1981 on Drury Lane, but due to expansion it moved to a former 1880’s church school building in Rossmore Road, Marylebone in 1983. About. In partnership with parents, the Sylvia Young Theatre School aims to provide opportunities for its students that enable them to play an active and positive role as members of the school and the wider community. Students have access to and experience of the curriculum regardless of race, class, gender or religious belief.
The Sylvia Young Theatre School is non-denominational and co-educational. Our students range from 10 to 16 years of age. We are a small school of around 250 students and value our ‘family atmosphere'.
Open day. The School Open Day tour for prospective parents & children will take place in; October 2024. Our school is unique in that the week is divided into two - Monday-Wednesday students follow their academic studies and Thursday-Friday students follow their vocational programme.
The Sylvia Young Theatre School has high expectations of students academically as well as vocationally and places considerable emphasis on the academic curriculum.
