  2. Feb 4, 2009 · "Coraline" is the new film by Henry Selick, who made "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993) and again combines his mastery of stop-motion and other animation with 3-D. The 3-D creates a gloomier image (take off the glasses and the screen is bright), but then this is a gloomy film with weird characters doing nasty things.

  3. Coraline, a young girl, who seems to be around eight or nine years old, has just moved into an old house with her parents, who can best be described as workaholics. While Coraline doesn't really dislike her parents, she feels a bit disconnected from them.

  4. Coraline is imaginative, daring and intelligent filmmaking devoid of Hollywood manipulations and greeting card sentiments. Full Review | Original Score: 3.5/4.0 | Sep 5, 2020

  5. Feb 2, 2009 · Coraline — Film Review. Not only is Henry Selick's charming "Coraline" a terrific children's story, adapted from a novel by Neil Gaiman, but this is the first stop-motion feature ever made in 3-D.

Feb 6, 2009 · A young girl walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life - only much better.

  7. Be prepared for a methodically and deliberately paced story. More psychological terror than jump out at you scares, the tale of Coraline escaping into a parallel world, perfectly mirrored of her own only inhabited by animated dolls, is one of enlightenment and discovery of what love truly means.
