The sixteenth season of American Idol premiered on March 11, 2018, on the ABC television network. It was the show's first season to air on ABC, and after 15 years, Ryan Seacrest continued his role as host, while Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie joined the show as judges.
Madeline Mae Poppe (born December 5, 1997) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and the sixteenth season winner of American Idol. She is a multi-instrumentalist —playing the guitar, piano, and ukulele. Prior to winning American Idol in 2018, Poppe released an independent album titled Songs from the Basement.
