Sierra Club is a national, volunteer-based organization with more than 60 chapters nationwide . Among those chapters, there are 13 local ones in California. These chapters cover different geographies and everyone in California lives within the boundaries of a local chapter.
The Sierra Club is a member of the BlueGreen Alliance, a coalition of environmental groups and labor unions. The BlueGreen Alliance was formed in 2006 and grew out of a less-formal collaboration between the Sierra Club and the United Steelworkers .
