History. Creation: Area code 540 was put into service on July 15, 1995 and was the 155th area code in service. It was one of 14 area codes introduced in 1995. 540 was split in 2001 creating the need to update some of the phone numbers to area code 276. In 2022, area code 826 was created and is currently an overlay to 540.
12VAC5-460-320. Lifeguards. The management of any transient lodging establishment where a swimming pool has been provided for the use of guests shall designate and have on duty a reliable and competent person as a lifeguard and management shall further provide for the use of this lifeguard, such life saving equipment as may be required depending upon the size and depth of the pool.
