Ironically, I ran into more white fans of them in both America and Europe than anywhere else. NY rap especially 90s rap or underground is huge in Europe. I remember a German Hip Hop publication interviewing Raekwon and ghostface back in 95. Outside of that though, southern hip hop has been a dominant force in music for over 20 plus years.
