  1. The Martian is probably the most realistic, followed by Gravity (realistic space physics but improbable coincidences). Interstellar is pretentious and goofy. Arrival is from the 'words are magic' fantasy genre, which I just can't get into. Interstaller the best. Then gravity.

  2. May 26, 2023 · Predestination is ambitiously directed and is one of a kind. The movie has a linear narrative but feels confusing due to the time-traveling element and complex characters. If you want to watch a film similar to Interstellar with out-of-the-box ideation, Predestination will surely fulfill your hunger. Watch trailer here 19.

Also, Hans Zimmer, man’s a genius. Otherwise, The Martian with Matt Damon would do the trick for a more happy and upbeat movie. Gravity is okay, very forgettable movie.

  7. The Expanse if you like the hard sci-fi. Apollo 11 - the documentary from 2019. It is by far the closest movie in feel to Interstellar. It has an amazing original score, cinematic editing, and most importantly - no background narration or talking heads, only the original footage from ‘69 re-scanned in 4K.
