The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, officially the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine, is a church and shrine in the World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, New York City.
The Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, founded in 1916, was part of the vibrant multi-ethnic neighborhood that became overshadowed by the World Trade Center. The Church was ultimately destroyed on 9/11 when the South Tower collapsed.
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is part of the Metropolis of San Francisco, a metropolis of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and an eparchy of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
