Clara Muhammad was very active in and devoted to the Nation of Islam. During Elijah Muhammad's time in prison for draft evasion, Clara acted as a liaison between the Nation and the Minister. She and Elijah had eight children together. She died of stomach cancer on August 12, 1972.
