Pittsfield had a booming economy at the turn of the 20th century, driven by a forerunner to General Electric.
As the county seat and its largest community, Pittsfield is at the literal and figurative center of the Berkshires. The city has an abundance of open space including dozens of parks, lakes, wildlife sanctuaries, and historic sites.
