It was founded in 1893 by Amy Badley and John Haden Badley in reaction to the limitations of conventional Victorian schools and has been co-educational since 1898.
Bedales was founded as an alternative to the mainstream 19th century British ‘public school'. While much has changed since 1893, we still strive to educate the young people in our care with the same questioning approach to learning and living.
Bedales comprises three co-educational boarding and day schools located in 120 acres of South Downs National Park in Petersfield, Hampshire: Bedales Pre-prep (3-8 years) Bedales Prep (8-13 years)
