Mark Shelmerdine, the Emmy-nominated producer who remade Alexander Korda’s dormant London Films label into an independent production powerhouse behind projects including I, Claudius, has died. He was 78.
A British television executive and producer, who co-founded BAFTA’s Los Angeles branch (now part of BAFTA North America) in 1987. Mark Shelmerdine started his screen career as financial director of the Taylor Clark group, which included the dormant London Films production company.
