Retired. 1949. Orville Brown (March 10, 1908 – January 24, 1981) [1] [2] was an American professional wrestler. He is a thirteen-time world champion and was recognized as the first NWA World Heavyweight Champion in 1948. Brown's professional wrestling career ended on November 1, 1949, when he suffered severe injuries in an automobile accident.

Mar 23, 2020 · Orville Brown was born in the small Midwestern town of Sharon, Kansas on March 10, 1908. Life was not easy for the young Brown, who grew up fatherless and, when his mother passed away, was orphaned at the tender age of 11. Education became secondary to earning a living and he soon dropped out of school to work full-time on the farm.
Orville Brown won his first World Title on June 13, 1940 in Kansas City, having beat Bruns in two-of-three-falls. The first went to the defending champion in 33-minutes using a backdrop. Orville returned to capture the second after 8-minutes with a pile-driver. The third was an easy win for Brown as Bruns was still dazed.
