Douglass High School, we strive to get students to and through college, while providing a genuine New Orleans high school experience that includes a variety of extra-curricular activities, milestones such as Homecoming and Prom, and culturally responsive educational experiences unique to our students in our city.

History. A Cherished Tradition Since 1885. The rich tradition of Frederick Douglass High School dates back to 1883 when some high school courses were added to the subjects taught at the Grammar School for Colored Children, located on Holiday Street.
