Gonville and Caius College, often referred to simply as Caius (/ k iː z / KEEZ), is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England. Founded in 1348 by Edmund Gonville , it is the fourth-oldest of the University of Cambridge's 31 colleges and one of the wealthiest.
Gonville and Caius College alumni include politicians, civil servants, academics, athletes and business leaders, including 14 Nobel Prize winners, the second-most of any Oxbridge college after Trinity College, Cambridge.
Caius is the fourth oldest College in the University of Cambridge. The College was first founded as Gonville Hall by Edmund Gonville, Rector of Terrington St Clement in Norfolk, in 1348, and refounded in 1557 by John Caius as Gonville and Caius College.

Jul 10, 2019 · Gonville and Caius (pronounced “Keys”) College is one of the oldest Cambridge colleges, founded in 1348 by Edmund Gonville as Gonville Hall. Having fallen into disrepair by the mid-sixteenth century, John Caius re-founded the college as Gonville and Caius college.
