He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish television drama Herrens Veje, [9] which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 as Ride Upon the Storm. From 2016 to 2018, he voiced Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn" in the third and fourth seasons of the animated series Star Wars Rebels.
For some of his performances in movies, films or plays he has received various nominations and awards so far. Lars lives with his wife and his sons Lue (born in 1995) and Thor (born in 2000) in the Copenhagen district Vesterbro.

In a formal ceremony, which took place on February 7, 2011, Lars was awarded the "Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog", by the Danish Queen, Margrethe II. Almost 9 years later, on December 3, 2019, he was honored a second time; this time with the "Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dannebrog 1st Class".
