Darby Leigh Stanchfield (born April 29, 1971) [1] is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Abby Whelan in the ABC political drama series Scandal (2012–2018).
Darby is best known for her role as Abby Whelan on ABC's hit show Scandal, created by Shonda Rhimes. Previously, Darby played prominent recurring roles such as Helen Bishop on period drama, AMC's Mad Men, Shannon Gibbs on CBS's NCIS, and Dr. April Green on CBS's Jericho.
Darby is the niece of legendary Disney Studios animator, Walt Stanchfield, whose work includes major features The Jungle Book (1967), The Aristocats (1970), and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). In Dead in the Water (2017), she is slapped three times by Kerry Washington.
