At the time of his birth, Jones’s father, Dub, was a receiver for the Cleveland Browns and helped the franchise win two AAFC Championships and three NFL titles.
Bert Jones was the Baltimore Colts' quarterback who replaced Johnny Unitas and won the MVP in 1976. He retired from football and returned to Louisiana to run a lumber company with his family and friends.
Bert Jones was a star quarterback at LSU from 1970 to 1972, setting school records in passing and leading the Tigers to three bowl games. He was the second overall pick in the 1973 draft and won the NFL MVP award in 1976 with the Colts.
