Benji is a 2018 American adventure drama film written and directed by Brandon Camp, and produced by Blumhouse Productions. The film is a reboot of the 1974 film of the same title, which was directed by Camp's father Joe. It stars Gabriel Bateman and Darby Camp. Jason Blum served as a producer through his Blumhouse Productions label.

Mar 16, 2018 · The film was a full-on survival thriller, with Benji protecting four cougar kittens in the wilderness, and if I was only slightly older, I would’ve been enthralled by their adventure. Brandon Camp’s “Benji” stays true to the formula of his father’s original picture, and that is a smart move as well as a limitation.

Parents need to know that Benji (2018) is an updated take on 1974's hugely successful Benji, which spawned sequels and a merchandising bonanza. It's still about an adorable stray dog who's almost adopted by two kids until a reluctant parent disappoints them, and the kids are still abducted by sketchy criminals.
