Dec 22, 1999 · Oliver Stone’s “Any Given Sunday” is a smart sports movie almost swamped by production overkill. The movie alternates sharp and observant dramatic scenes with MTV-style montages and incomprehensible sports footage. It’s a miracle the underlying story survives, but it does.
A movie about a professional football team and its coach, players, and owners in a fictional league. The plot follows the rise and fall of a third-string quarterback, the conflicts between the coach and the new owner, and the challenges of the game and life.
