David Crockett (August 17, 1786 – March 6, 1836) was an American folk hero, frontiersman, soldier, and politician. He is often referred to in popular culture as the "King of the Wild Frontier". He represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives and served in the Texas Revolution .

Jan 23, 2023 · David “Davy” Crockett was a legendary American folk hero, nicknamed the “King of the Wild Frontier.” He is most well-known for the “tall tales,” told about his exploits, his real-life opposition to the treatment of Native American Indians, and his untimely, heroic death at the Battle of the Alamo.
David Crockett easily remains one of the most popular figures associated with the Alamo. So important is he to the story that a persistent misconception contends that he was the commander of a contingent known as the “Tennessee Mounted Volunteers” who followed him from their home state to Texas.
