Bourbon Street Beat is a private detective television series that aired on the ABC network from October 5, 1959, to July 4, 1960, starring Richard Long as Rex Randolph and Andrew Duggan as Cal Calhoun, with Arlene Howell as detective agency secretary Melody Lee Mercer and Van Williams as Kenny Madison. Bourbon Street Beat: With Richard Long, Andrew Duggan, Van Williams, Arlene Howell. A former New Orleans cop partners with an Ivy League lawyer to open up a private detective agency with offices on the city's famed Bourbon Street.
Cal Calhoun, when he was a police detective, arrested a man for murder. Six hours before the man is to be executed, Calhoun is convinced the man is innocent. Calhoun makes progress and is on the verge of cracking the case when he realizes he's also the victim of deceit.
Bourbon Street Beat was the least successful of the many cloned 77 Sunset Strip detective shows churned out by Warner Bros for the ABC network in the late 50s and early 60s. Set in New Orleans, the series starred Richard Long as Rex Randolph and Andrew Duggan (all 6′ 5″ of him) as Cal Calhoun.
