The Tiger is the fifth episode of Season 5, and the forty-sixth episode overall. It is set to air on December 12, 2023.

Lorraine Lyon thinks extensively about her confrontations with Dot Lyon as she goes about her day. A man starts to narrate about the cunning, predatory mind of a tiger, which will always be planning an escape if it is restrained. As this narration continues, Danish Graves and two men enter the bedroom in Lorraine's house that Dot is using and he wakes her. She quickly runs for the window but finds it locked while Danish insists his concern for her mental state. She imagines several escape tactics, but concludes that all of them end in failure, and settles on trying to intimidate Danish's men with the story of what she did to the last pair of men who tried to kidnap her. They advance on her, and are then shown visibly injured as they wheel her out of the house, tied to a stretcher. She is taken to the hospital as she continues to try and talk Danish out of it, and he leaves as she is wheeled into one of the rooms in the psych ward. She asks the orderly untying her to move her for a tissue, and while he is distracted, she gets the jump on him and ties him up, and when a nurse enters, she restrains her too and steals her outfit.

Lorraine sits down to lunch with bank owner Vivian Dugger and his lawyer, who are disappointed that Danish is not present. She points out that his bank is now turning enough profit to meet current regulations, which she can report to destroy his business if he does not sell to her. As Dugger indignantly refers to her as "lady," she decreases her offer by ten million dollars and explains that she wants to branch out from debt collection to loans, but needs a smaller bank to test if this is feasible. She warns Dugger to said whether "you hate women more than you love money" and requests an answer by the end of the day.

Dot makes friendly conversation with other staff, only for them to immediately notice her wearing the nurse's badge. She flees and blends in by grabbing a woman in a wheelchair and walking with her.

Roy Tillman is waiting for Lorraine outside her house when she arrives home. He explains that Dot is his wife and she invites him inside. He becomes annoyed when she tries to buy him off, claiming she is trying to put down "the working man," and gives her a picture of his and Dot's marriage from twelve years prior. She admits she would be happier without Dot in her life, but cares more about the happiness she brings to Scotty and Wayne Lyon. Roy insists that the bible marks Dot as his property, making Wayne a thief. Lorraine notes that she has heard of him, regarding his role as constitutional sheriff with disgust, asking "so you want freedom with no responsibility?" She tells him that the only person on earth who has that is a baby, and that Roy is fighting for his right to be one. Danish enters asking about the meet with Dugger, who Roy remembers catching consorting with a prostitute once. Lorraine shoos Roy out and offers to write him a check, subtly threatening to publicize his mishaps in the face of his approaching re-election, and points out that Dot is legally considered dead after so long missing from Roy, making her Wayne's property by his logic. He insists her name is Nadine, and Lorraine firmly states "not anymore."

As Danish escorts Roy out and gives him his card, they run into Scotty, who he realizes is Dot's daughter. He tells her to "tell your mom sheriff Roy says hello." He promises Danish that they will see each other again, "just maybe not in the way that you're expecting." He leaves as Indira Olmstead arrives to inform Danish of Dot's escape. Roy calls Gator Tillman and orders him to abduct Wayne from the hospital, telling him to stay behind and let his man Bowman take care of things. Bowman and two men leave Gator in the car as they approach the hospital.

The narration resumes as Dot heads for the exit, citing the female tiger as especially intelligent when it comes to protecting her mate and offspring. Dot's exit is cut off by Bowman's arrival, who she overhears looking for Wayne. She gets in the elevator and it closes just before Bowman can get on. Gator witnesses Meyer and Tony Joaquin arrive and follows them into the hospital. Dot heads for Wayne's room, only to be cut off by security. She slips into patient Jordan Seymore's room, who immediately rudely demands she get him food. He becomes angrier when she picks up his coat, accusing her of trying to steal from him and telling her "I know who you really are." Annoyed with his rudeness, she suffocates him with the coat until he passes out. She switches Seymore and Wayne's names on their doors, slipping into Wayne's room just as Bowman arrives. She instructs Wayne to lock himself in the bathroom just as Bowman enters Seymore's room. As she slips out, she is intercepted by Meyer and Joaquin who tell her they're here to help. Gator passes by and recognizes her, pointing her out to Bowman as they wheel Seymore away. He leaves her behind, believing them having her "husband" to be enough as Meyer and Joaquin try to take her somewhere to help with Roy. Security comes looking for her and she slips into the bathroom. The man she restrained identifies to her the agents, who enter the bathroom to find she has escaped out the window.
