Jonas Furrer (3 March 1805 – 25 July 1861) was a Swiss lawyer and politician who served as member of the Federal Council, from 1848 to 1861, and as the first president of the Swiss Confederation from 1848 to 1849, and again in 1852, 1855 and 1858.
Jonas Furrer (* 3. März 1805 in Winterthur; † 25. Juli 1861 in Bad Ragaz) war ein Schweizer Politiker. Seine politische Karriere begann 1834 mit der Wahl ins Zürcher Kantonsparlament. Ab 1845 war er Regierungsrat des Kantons Zürich und präsidierte in diesem Jahr auch die Tagsatzung.
Jonas Furrer (born March 3, 1805, Winterthur, Switz.—died July 25, 1861, Bad Ragaz) was a Swiss statesman, who served as the president of the Swiss Confederation four times. A doctor of jurisprudence and lawyer of national renown, Furrer became, after 1839, leader of the Zürich liberals but only reluctantly aspired to political office.

Jonas Furrer served as the first president of the Swiss Confederation (1848–1849). Jakob Stämpfli , who presided over the Federal Council in 1856, was just 35 years old, the youngest to date. Karl Schenk , as the longest-serving member of the Federal Council , was president of the Confederation six times, a number only equaled by Emil Welti .
