National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) was a public university in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Established in 1896 as Nanyang Public School by an imperial edict of the Guangxu Emperor, it was one of China's leading universities. After the Chinese Civil War, NCTU was re-established by former Chiao Tung University faculty and alumni in Taiwan in 1958.

May 16, 2024 · National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University was founded in 2021 through the merger of two universities: National Yang-Ming University and National Chiao Tung University. Yang Ming, which focused on biomedical research, and Chiao Tung, which focused on electronic communication research, were both top-tier universities in Taiwan.
It was founded in 1896 (currently Shanghai Jiao Tong University ). It moved to Taipei City in 1958. It moved to Hsinchu City in 1979. NCTU is one of the four universities of the University System of Taiwan.
