Garden Grove is a city in northern Orange County, California, United States. The population was 171,949 at the 2020 census. State Route 22, also known as the Garden Grove Freeway, passes through the city in an east–west direction. The western portion of the city is known as West Garden Grove.
Today, Garden Grove is the fifth largest city in Orange County with nearly 172,000 residents. A drive through the city reveals the large parks, thriving businesses, both established neighborhoods and new housing developments, and a wonderful cultural diversity, yet cohesive population.

The area was explored by Gaspar de Portolá in 1769 and was part of Rancho Los Nietos, a Spanish land grant.
