Jēkabpils (Latvian: [ˈjeːkapːils] ⓘ) is a state city in Jēkabpils Municipality in southeastern Latvia, located roughly halfway between the capital Riga and Daugavpils, and spanning the Daugava River. The name of the city literally translates into "City of Jacob".
