nGlide is a 3Dfx Voodoo Glide wrapper. It allows you to play games designed for 3Dfx Glide API without the need for having 3Dfx Voodoo graphics card. All three API versions are supported, Glide 2.11 (glide.dll), Glide 2.60 (glide2x.dll) and Glide 3.10 (glide3x.dll). nGlide emulates Glide environment with Direct3D and Vulkan.

Concerning Diablo2 v1.14! By version 1.14, Blizzard made some changes at the game program. To set the video mode manually, it is now explicitly neccessary to use the command line parameters! So if you want to use the glide wrapper, you have now to add the parameter -3dfx in the properties of the D2 shortcut. Disclaimer:

It originally only used Direct3D 9 until Vulkan output was added in 2.0, allowing it to work under Linux using Wine 2.10.0 and newer. [1] nGlide also supports high resolution modes.
Glide is a 3D graphics API developed by 3dfx Interactive for their Voodoo Graphics 3D accelerator cards. It started as a proprietary API, and was later open sourced by 3dfx. [1] . It was dedicated to rendering performance, supporting geometry and texture mapping primarily, in data formats identical to those used internally in their cards.
