Jan 26, 2021 · The Stafford City Council voted 6-0 to make Alice Chen the city’s new Mayor Pro Tem during a Jan. 20 council meeting, following Don Jones’ resignation from the position.
Mayor Ken Mathew of Stafford also endorsed Chen, saying, “Alice Chen has shown exceptional leadership in her two terms in office. I believe in her vision for Stafford’s future, and I am proud to endorse her for a third term on the City Council.” In the 2021 re-election, Council Member Chen won the election with 77 percent in favor.
